Training Program Graduates

  • Completion of a state‑approved Minnesota Nursing Assistant training program within the last 24 months.
  • Your instructor will create your TMU testing profile before scheduling.

Challenge/Test‑Out Candidates

  • No prior training required — you may test as a Challenge candidate if you have not completed a MN state‑approved program in the last two years.
  • The EDGE Center will initiate your TMU profile once you register.

All Candidates Must

  • Bring required identification
  • Arrive in proper testing attire following Minnesota testing standards
  • Follow all testing day policies (arrival time, no electronics, etc.)

What This Course Is About:

The EDGE Center at Alexandria Technical & Community College is an approved Minnesota Department of Health testing site for the Minnesota Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation. Whether you’ve completed a state‑approved training program or are challenging the exam, we offer a clear and supportive testing experience.

You will complete both required components:

Knowledge Test – A 70‑question online exam with up to 2 hours to complete. Available in English, Spanish, Somali, and Hmong, with an optional oral/audio version

Skills Test – A hands‑on demonstration of essential nursing assistant skills evaluated by a registered nurse test observer. You will have up to 30 minutes to complete your selected skill tasks. Passing both tests qualifies you for placement on the Minnesota Nurse Aide Registry.
