Expandable Baton/Impact Weapon Instructor Course

This course is to help the officer understand the use-of-force as it pertains to an impact weapon. The techniques instructed will enable officers to control hostile suspects while using an impact weapon or police baton.
This is a Train-the-Trainer course.  All officers are expected to participate and each officer will be required to complete a certification performance appraisal to successfully complete the course.

What This Course Is About:

This immersive course is designed to equip law enforcement professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to apply use-of-force principles effectively and lawfully when deploying an impact weapon. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on practical training, officers will gain a clear understanding of force decision-making, legal considerations, and tactical application specific to impact weapons.
Participants will learn proven techniques to safely control, restrain, and de-escalate hostile or resistant subjects while maintaining officer safety and minimizing risk to all involved. Instruction emphasizes proper weapon handling, target selection, situational awareness, and realistic scenario-based applications that reflect the challenges officers face in the field.
This course is delivered in a Train-the-Trainer format, preparing officers not only to perform these techniques effectively but also to teach, evaluate, and reinforce them within their agencies. Active participation is required throughout the course, and each officer must successfully complete a certification performance appraisal to demonstrate proficiency and instructional readiness.
Upon completion, officers will leave with enhanced confidence, refined skills, and the credentials to support consistent, defensible, and department-wide training in impact weapon use.
